Jamnagar Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Formerly known as The Nawanagar Chamber of Commerce & Industry) was established on 22 May 1933 by his Highness Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji Jadeja. The Jam Saheb visited London and the London Chamber of Commerce in his time and was inspired to set up a similar Chamber for Jamnagar.
Jamnagar Chamber of Commerce & Industry is one of the oldest Chambers of the Western Region of the country. The Chamber is affiliated with FICCI, CII IMC, GCCI and other national level trade organizations.
Jamnagar Chamber has a membership strength of more then 1000 members and 30 affiliated associations. It functions through several panels, which are headed by experts in their fields, for representation to various government and non-government organizations on various issues concerning business, trade and commerce.
Jamnagar Chamber celebrated its Platinum Jubilee year in 2007-08 during which various programs concerning trade and commerce were organized. The Chamber has organized many trade fairs, business meets and industrial exhibitions. During the vibrant Gujarat Summit 2011, the Chamber entered into an MOU with Gujarat Technological University for development of industry and for bridging the gap between Indian technology and expectation of industry.
Distinguished guests and dignitaries have paid a visit to this Chamber namely H.H.Shri Digvijaysinhji, Rajmata Gulabkuvarba, Governors, Chief Ministers, Secretaries, Revenue Secretaries, Chairman of Settlement Commission, Chairman of Tribunals and other foreign dignitaries. Shri Narendra Modi, Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, along with his team of ministers, addressed the members of Jamnagar Chamber, in 2001.
Delegations of this Chamber have paid visits to London Chamber of Commerce, The Hague Chamber of Commerce, Netherland Chamber of Commerce, Hawaii Chamber of Commerce and U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Jamnagar Chamber publishes a bimonthly bulletin and mouthpiece which provides information on various aspects.
